They fought for it, but...
In an exciting game against the champion APOEL, our team failed to keep its undefeated at home, despite its good appearance. Although Ethnikos opened the score at 13’ with Hadjivasilis and outmatched the opponent in the first 20 minutes, APOEL managed to make the reversal with two goals at 23 'and 39'. This was the score which led the two teams to the changing rooms.
During the second half, our team entered dynamically, pursuing the score for the draw. However, APOEL’s experience and tactic left no margins for our team and allowed it to take advantage of our team’s mistakes. At 78 'the opposing team managed to score a third goal, making the work of our team even harder.
Five minutes later, APOEL had the opportunity to widen the difference of the score from the 11 steps but Bogatinov saved relatively easily his third penalty this season. Our team managed to reduce during the extra time of the game with a targeted performance penalty by our captain Pincelli.
Our team’s first eleven for yesterday were: Bogatinov, Enescu, Kyprianou, Krachunov, Filipov, Stoychev, Pinselli, Kipiani, Hadjivasilis, Zelaya, Illuridze (60 'Papageorgiou).
We would like to thank our team's supporters for their presence and support at yesterday's match as well as the supporters of APOEL for their excellent behaviour.
Our attention now turns to the next away game against Karmiotissa, which is programmed for next Monday, where victory is our only target.
The coach allowed the players two days off.
